Prevention Point Philadelphia (PPP) seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its multi-service public health organization dedicated to promoting health, empowerment, and safety for communities affected by drug use and poverty in Philadelphia. Prevention Point Philadelphia (PPP) is a pioneering organization committed to meeting drug users where they are, providing non-judgmental, culturally sensitive services such as sterile syringe exchange, mobile medical care, and prevention case management. With a focus on harm reduction, PPP empowers individuals by offering resources and support to address their health and social service needs.
Background of A Highly Favorable Candidate:
A dynamic leader with 10 years of progressively responsible experience in this or adjacent fields, including at least 5 years of management/leadership experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural competency, financial acumen, and a commitment to harm reduction principles. A higher education degree in public health, social work, or a related field is preferred, however, significant professional experience and demonstrated competency in leading similar organizations and/or experience in adjacent fields such as Healthcare, Business or Healthcare Administration, Human Services, non-profit management are also considered acceptable credentials. Strong candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to navigate complex political environments.
Professional Characteristics:
  1. 10 years of progressively responsible experience in this or adjacent fields, including at least 5 years of management/leadership experience in a similar role
  2. A higher education degree in public health, social work, or a related field is preferred
  3. Strong programmatic and financial management skills
  4. Experience leading organizational change initiatives
  5. Direct experience with harm reduction is required, experience working specifically with injection drug users (IDUs) is preferred.
  6. Cultural competency to work effectively with diverse populations
  7. Strategic thinking and vision-setting abilities
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  9. Commitment to developing leaders and fostering a culture of care within the organization
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite applications
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight
  • Ensure effective day-to-day operations, including program delivery and compliance.
  • Allocate resources strategically to maximize impact and efficiency.
Financial Management
  • Provide strong financial stewardship, overseeing budget development and securing funding.
  • Foster strategic financial partnerships and optimize banking relationships.
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and communicate a compelling vision and strategic direction for PPP.
  • Collaborate with the Board and Senior Leadership to navigate organizational challenges and opportunities.
Organizational Development
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and talent development.
  • Promote learning and growth opportunities for staff.
Spokespersonship
  • Represent PPP's mission and values in the community.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders, including city officials, funders, and media.
Compensation:
$155,000-$185,000 annually with benefits aligned with nonprofit industry standards.
Organizational Information:
The CEO will report to the Chairman of the Board and lead PPP's Executive Management team.
Relevant Financial Information:
PPP's funding sources include grants, public contracts, and donations, with an annual budget of approximately $20 million.
