Our Evolution
1999
Sulaiman Rahman launches UrbanPhilly (UP), a digital platform that grows to over 30,000 subscribers, connecting multicultural professionals in Philadelphia through events.
2007
Rahman launches a spin-off to UrbanPhilly called Urban Philly Professional Network (UPPN), which quickly grows to become the largest and most respected city-wide professional network, offering events, education, and empowerment for Black and Brown professionals in the region.
2017
DiverseForce partners with University of Pennsylvania and ImpactED to launch the first Cohort of DiverseForce on Boards, a leadership development and board matching program designed to cultivate leaders and enhance diversity on nonprofit boards.
2017
DiverseForce partners with University of Pennsylvania and ImpactED to launch the first Cohort of DiverseForce on Boards, a leadership development and board matching program designed to cultivate leaders and address the lack of racial/ethnic diversity on nonprofit boards.
2020
DiverseForce hires an experienced Director of Recruitment Services and support team to launch an Executive Search practice, to further diversify leadership in the social impact and nonprofit sector by guaranteeing a diverse slate of highly-qualified candidates for each search.
2021
DiverseForce opens the P4 Hub, a state-of-the-art events and convening space. P4 Hub serves as a home for DiverseForce’s community building, educational programming, and other special events. Also made available for third-party booking.
2022
DiverseForce rebrands its professional network, UPPN, to become the BBEx Network (Black and Brown Excellence Network) and collaborates with mission aligned organizations to establish P4 Hub as their programming base.
2022
DiverseForce and P4 Hub are selected to be the Greater Philadelphia’s Community Development Lead for OneTen, a coalition of 70+ Fortune 500 CEOs committed to skills-first hiring and promoting one million underrepresented talent into family-sustaining careers over ten years.
2023
DiverseForce On Boards celebrates the graduation of its 10th cohort, marking an alumni network of 282 graduates who have filled over 250+ new nonprofit board seats since joining the program, both regionally and nationally.
2024
2024 saw the launch of DiverseForce GameChangers (DFGC) membership program - a continuous learning journey in AI. DFGC equips professionals from all backgrounds with the skills needed to thrive in the AI-driven future of work, fostering a dynamic community of innovators.
2022
