DiverseForce On Boards

The Fels Institute of Government and DiverseForce are proud to partner together to offer the Board Governance Program, providing the training necessary for leaders of color to achieve greater effectiveness as organizational leaders while making a social impact.

There are more than 9,000 nonprofit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area. All are governed by boards of directors, drawn from the members of the public. In addition, municipal, state, and federal governments appoint thousands of citizens to serve the public good on their many agencies, boards, and commissions. However, a disconnect remains between who sits on these boards and the demographic make-up of the constituents they serve. Fels and DiverseForce directly address this challenge with a board training, certification, and matching program to facilitate the placement of qualified professionals of color in governance roles on nonprofit organizations and public agencies, boards, and commissions.

"This collaboration between DiverseForce and the University of Pennsylvania has been an incredibly enlightening experience. The sessions have been extremely engaging and most importantly fun! Not only are we learning about the non-profit space, but we are also learning about ourselves and our capabilities so that we can best align our time and talents to the agency that will be the "best fit."  I urge anyone who is interested, don't hesitate to sign up for the next cohort. You will be equipped to be the change you want to see!"
